25 March 2009
Well we’ve made it to the end of term! The children and staff (and I have to say parents too – homework??!) have all worked so very hard this term. We’ve survived a school inspection and raised lots of money for Red Nose Day! Well done to everyone!
Here are a few pieces of information about the term ahead:
APRIL § Term 4 begins on Tuesday 14 April. § Mrs. Hunter’s morning in Uig changes to a Wednesday again as from the beginning of term. § School Meals – new menus begin. § There is a Parent Council meeting on 21 April at 3.30pm – all welcome. § P7 pupils to attend Fitness Testing with Sarah Nicolson at Portree High School on 22 April.
MAY § Monday 4 May – holiday. § Skye Schools Cross Country event at Shinty Pitch, Portree on Wednesday 6 May. § Week beginning 11 May – P7 trip. Mrs. Holt out of school all week and Mrs. MacDonald to take her place. § A visit to Portree High School’s climbing wall on Wednesday 13 May – still to be confirmed. § Friday 29 May – reports on pupils’ progress sent home to parents.
JUNE § 2/3 June – parent/teacher interviews. § P7 pupils to attend Safe Highlander event in Portree – Wednesday 3 June. § P7 pupils to attend snorkelling training at Torrin – Friday 4 June. § 15/16 June – extra “fun” swimming sessions at Portree High School. Hopefully we might be able to combine this with a day out/trip – still to be arranged. § 18/19 June – P7 pupils attend induction days at Portree High School. § MONDAY 22 JUNE – ADDITIONAL IN-SERVICE DAY FOR TEACHERS. Pupils will not attend school on this day. Due to the implementation of a Curriculum for Excellence by the Scottish Government it has been decided that teachers should have an additional in-service day to help support them through the transition. There will also be extra days allocated over the next 2 years.
JULY § Wednesday 1 July – Hockey Festival in Portree § Thursday 2 July – end of session. School will close at 12.30pm.
As you can see we have another busy time ahead. I’ll give you more information about the activities nearer the time but thought it would be good to share the term’s overview with you before that. We have been invited to join Kilmuir and Staffin Primary Schools for Sports Day – a date has still to be arranged but will probably be end of May/beginning of June.
All of the above activities will be for all pupils unless there is specific mention of a year group.
I hope you all have a lovely rest during the holidays so that we have enough energy to get us through next term!!!
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL FROM THE STAFF OF UIG PRIMARY SCHOOL
